What It Takes to Earn the OSCP
In the cybersecurity world, the OSCP is not just another badge; it is widely regarded as the gold standard for hands-on penetration testing. Candidates do not just answer multiple-choice questions: they have to prove their skills under intense, real-world conditions.
To pass, Davide completed a rigorous 24-hour proctored practical exam where the objective was to penetrate 6 distinct virtual machines:
- 3 machines operating within an Active Directory environment.
- 3 standalone machines across Linux and Windows platforms.
Achieving this designation proves an ability to perform under extreme pressure, identify key attack vectors, and execute them safely and efficiently.
Once the 24-hour practical exam ends, the work is not over. Candidates must compile a comprehensive, enterprise-ready report detailing their complete attack methodology alongside actionable, prioritized remediation steps to help mitigate the discovered vulnerabilities.
